The shape of CNC lathe is similar to that of ordinary lathe, that is, it is composed of bed, headstock, tool rest, feed system, pressure system, cooling and lubrication system, etc. The feed system of CNC lathes is qualitarily different from that of ordinary lathes. The traditional ordinary lathes have feed box and exchange gear frame, while the CNC lathes directly use servo motor to drive the slide plate and the tool rest through the ball screw to achieve feed movement, so the structure of the feed system is greatly simplified. Generally, it can automatically complete the processing of cylindrical surface, conical surface, spherical surface and thread, but also can process some complex rotary surface, such as hyperboloid.

The precision index of small CNC lathe can be divided into: positioning accuracy and repeated positioning accuracy; Resolution and pulse equivalent; Index accuracy. Positioning accuracy refers to the continuous level of the actual moving position and the command position of the moving parts of the workbench of the small CNC lathe, and the difference is the positioning error. The factors causing positioning errors include servo system, detection system, feed drive and guide rail errors.
